What We Use
Coir fiber pith is the spongy, lignocellulic material that bonds fibres together in the mesocarp of the coco nut.
Why Coir fibre pith?
- Eco-friendly, sustainably produced and renewable
- Consist of naturally occurring fungus which work in symbiosis with plant root to protect them from pathogenic fungi
- Resistant to temperature and moisture differences(no swelling and shrinkage)
- Quickly absorbs water, but cannot be overwatered easily
- Higher water holding capacity
- Hold eight times their own mass in water
- Hold around 1000 times more air than soil
- High cellulose and lignin content
- High cation exchange capacity
- Homogeneous, uniform and stable
- Good longevity
Coco Peat
Preparation - Why Cocopel coir fibre pith?
The processing of the cocopeat takes place in the south of Sri Lanka, where we have ample access to prime quality coconut husks. Low humidity and high temperature in the processing zone allows open air drying without any machinery involvement.
- Coir fibre pith from Sri Lanka contains more macro and micro plant nutrients
- We never use over decomposed or raw high phenolic pith; so our products are never toxic to any plant
- We remove excess potassium and sodium by nitrate treatment and washing, hence there are no disturbances for any fertilizer application package
- Proper sun drying, particle separation by sieving, remixing and making particle size proportion according to the RHP standards
- We add high quality nursery fertilizers so no additional fertilizer is needed in first 3 weeks of nursery period
- Higher CEC with more Ca and Mg
- Optimum EC and pH level
